Customers' Reviews: Smita Jani I am very critical about music, coming from Indian background, which is culturally rich in musical heritage. I think Cheb Mami's voice is etherial and his songs redefine the idea of music. He is absolutely wonderful. Yasmin I was absolutly facinated when i heard cheb MAMI'S new cd. i also adore his voice, its wonderful & i'm glad thati can understand his songs thats because i am half algerian. He is the king of rai, i wish him all the best of luck, way to go mam. Indian Lady I have bought so many CDs and never have I heard such a beautiful voice. Never!!! What a talented man! Alhamdullila. Mustafa & Nikki Awesome work Mami, Khaled, Taha and Rashid.. talented, original, moving, hope this gets out to the whole world, big fans and supporters of yours, keep it up...!!Nikki & Mustafa. Aicha I am originally from Ireland and converted to Islam and never have I heard such touching and amazing voices as mami, khaled, hasni, rachid even though I only understand a little you can feel the love in which they put in to their music I wish more people were aware of the wonderful arabic music I love so much. Sameer Cheb Mami has a magical voice. It is one of the best ways to relax, by listening to his music. Combined with the likes of Khaled and Taha, this is a quality CD. Warda Ismahan Salaam everyone! I'm originally from Oran/Algeria - The City Of Rai - To all my people out there: "Be proud of our King Of Rai Khaled, he's our Boy" Nebrouk wa'n'moutou a'liek... Keep it real out there and never forget where you from. To all my people in Wahran, miss you and love you all! Ma'salaama, seeecccc. Loren Incredible music! Although I have lived in FLorida all my life, I have Moorish/Spanish ancenstry. I enjoy a variety of different musical genres, and had not REALLY listened to music with Arabic flavor. The rhythms and drum beats of this marvelous music resonates deep within me. Thank you for the music and the joy it brings. Thank you also from my husband who also enjoys [not as uch as I do] the music. I have intentions of learning Arabic to better understand the music and the culture. Helen On February 16, 2002, I had the pleasure and good fortune to see Khaled in concert in Toronto, Canada. I was utterly flabbergasted. A whole week later I am still reeling from that show. I have subsequently purchased Khaled's CD 'kenza' and am once again in awe of the music and the artist himself. My background is Greek and I continually find reference points and commonalities in Khaled's music as with certain genres of Greek music. The CD 'kenza' is full and full of wonderful melodies, textures and intricate rhythms that are intoxicating and truely memorable. Highly recommended. A must for any and all Arab music enthusiasts!. Abeed I never heard of Cheb Mami until I heard the Sting Song "Desert Rose". I then heard more songs from Cheb Mami and his music is very spiritually uplifting. Although I don't understand spoken Arabic (Only what's written in the Qur'an), I really enjoy listening to Cheb Mami. I have become a fan of international music and it's hard to believe I'm back to my Middle Eastern Roots. Lamia/maroc girl This Cd was outstanding as I expected it to be, Sheb Khaled, Mami, Taha, Faudel and all these wonderful rai artists have created some awesome music. I have been listening to Rai for a while now and I absolutely love it!!! The Best of Luck to these outsatnding artists. Heidi Wow! This is a wonderful CD. Since I moved back to the States from Saudi Arabia I miss the music from the Middle East. Though I can't speak Arabic, you can just feel the music and it is so reasurring. Ma'saalama l'aikum!. Karima from london I LOVE CEHB MAMI!!! I think he has the most beautiful voice ever. I am half Algerian and half Moroccan but I never ever used to say that I was Algerian. When I heard Cheb Mami for the first time, I was proud to say I was half Algerian. If you are fortunate to listen to any of his songs, listen to them really really closely, and appreciate his beautiful voice. imad the new album depicts a very unique and settle style of rai. performed in absolute perfection cheb mami and khaled are at it again, can not wait until the next one... moroccan boy assalamou alaykoum this cd illustrates a mix of some of the wonderful words in the world written by some of the wonderful composers and sang by at least three of the most exotic yet outleashed voices in the world. to sing rai is to be able to sing any other kind of music out there. the music is expressing, the words are strong, and the voice is just so powerful that it takes u in with its highs and lows that u actually feel like u re in a concert. way to go khaled mami and the rest and way to go mami. salam. Nabila S. Nabila from United States, Hello, I enjoy listenning to cheb Mami and Cheb Khaled they a wonderful duo. I happy to have the King of Rai, Cheb Khaled and all the Princes on one CD. Love them all. Siddik. Sanaa Hello, Growing up in America, I have always thought that Algerian music would be the most appropriate and clean music to listen to. Unfortunately, I am ashamed that people are actually proud of this horrible CD. I did not even have to listen to it! I might as well listen to American music! I despise the fact that Algerians are stereotyped according to the most horrible and ugliest singers in Algeria! In addition, as an Algerian, I am ashamed that music like this is listened to and given consideration throughout the world. Submit your Review |
