Ali I am a fan of Arabic music in general, whether it's mainstream pop or very classical oriented. This album beautifully captures jazz (which I find very rare in Arabic music) and sometimes combines it to Arabic beats and rhythms. Julia Butrous is simply a classy non-mainstream singer who presents incredibly original work. Though I love mainstream "Arabic pop" (ie Nawal ElZoughby, et al), I also appreciate this mellow and sober approach to music. It has more depth, heart and has a less commercial feel to it. When it comes to music, Julia's voice is simply velvety and electrifying, to say the least. My favourite song is "Kilma al Waraq" (Words on a Paper") and "Bisaraha" (With All Honesty). The sounds and the topics on this album are new, fresh and full of taste. A great production overall. Mariam I like Julia and appreciate the style of her music. Her songs are not always about love, but also about human rights, war and peace. She is great since she has been succesful in reaching popularity with her songs and her voice without copying the common modern kind of music, which is adopted by most singers. Her new album is very nice and resembles more or less her previous album. Good luck to Julia. Nadia This is CD is just great.The songs are wondrefull! Julia usualy has distingueshed songs, she makes changes in her style,and this great.. Kari Julia's unique and off-main-stream style is very entertaining and enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed the samples, and would buy the CD in a snap. Julia continue the excellent job, and don't change your taste. Essy I'm from Peru and I like latin music. But for some reason I love arabic music and this cd in particular.Julia has a sexy, soft and strong voice wich makes the cd to be one of the best!I wish I could understand every word of her songs , but I do not speak arabic. Good luck Julia, I wish you the best. Chipper I love this CD! I am from the USA and I don't know Arabic, but I love Julia because her voice is pure and beautiful. Bisaraha is absolutely delightful and makes a nice contrast with the third song on the album, a slow ballad. There is pop, jazz, and latin music along with traditional Arabic music found in this CD. The political messages in the last three songs are very powerful and Julia's voice truly brings out the song's meaning. Julia...thanks... Submit your Review |
