Customers' Reviews: Cris I received this CD in the mail yesterday afternoon and immediately loved it. Each song is different, with several incorporating Spanish rhythms, yet the distinct flavor of Arabic styling shines through. Each piece is well orchestrated and enchanting to listen to with the sound quality very good. Dancers will find many of the songs suitable for performance. I find myself singing along even though I don't speak a word of Arabic! No wonder this is a bestseller. sam DeBaz This is an extraordinary CD. Good quality and good taste. Traditional songs with contemporary music technique. The guy is simply a genius. I just wish he had also put the songs from his tape that came out at the same time on CD. Although the CD and the tape have the same songs, I would have bought both of them because the music and the arrangement is different in both. Vivien Ilham has provided us with great music in a time that all popular music was tasteless, unsophisticated and lacking rhythm. I wish that Ilham would be an inspiration for all those popular singers who fail to understand music. I wish that Ilham would record his first songs such as, the poem song of Ilia Abu Madi and his music that he often played on Jordan Radio while Mohannad Aljazira interviewed him. I have been trying to find those songs for a long time. I highly recomend this CD. thanks. Yasser Youssef Ilham gives us a chance to taste the sweetness of life again. In a time of all meaningless songs, he came with a punch of sweet dreams asking us to smell them, taste them and look at our life from different point of view. Laith This is one of my favourite albums at the moment. Ilham has done a very good job in incorporating spanish guitar with arabic music. I have been playing guitar in iraqi style, and his music motivates me to play his songs. SAM This is a very unique CD, when I was listening to it I felt like I was on a journey of dreams, and being iraqi listening to the maqam with modern musical twist took me back to the days of peace and glory of my country and the good times we spent on the great rivers. I recommend this CD to all Arabic music lovers and all lovers. Hamza A modern classic, yet rich in heritage and authenticity. Nothing compares to the startling diversity of rhythms, beats, and what the arabs call 'tarib'. Bossanova, Flamenco and Arabic all in one cd....Three genres to satisfy even the most hardened campaigners. I love it! Mabrook ya Ilham! Haya bil Iraq!. MUSA ILHAM is one of the most underated singers in the arabic world. He has one of the most beautiful voices I ever heard. He is a genuine man with genuine artistic qualities. I wish he gets more recognition and support so that we can get more records out of him. I also wish he would rerelease all of his old material. I would love to add that to my collection. I know he rereleased one but I know there are a lot more that I am not able to find anywhere. I love the Quanoon and Classical guitar comination. I lose love his use of some of the traditional Iraqi instruments and rythms. I liked the Sax solo's but I did not care much for the sax sound on the album. Good luck Keep singing Ilham and I wish you all the best. Essam Farghali I don't listen to many arab singers in normal but this is something else. I watched the song "Khattar" being performed on TV and I was really astonished because it was the first time for me to hear about Ilham. I bought the CD and listened to it at least once each day for the next year and half. The songs flow nicely and most of them are mid tempo. The melodies are of the highest order, I bet all of you who listened to the CD are humming the tunes to each song in no time. One of the things that I really like about the music is the Qanoun player, it is so beautiful the way he plays. Ilham, the king himself, is giving one of the most inspiring vocal performances in the history of recorded music. His voice echoes with pain and melancholy. Although some words are hard to catch but in general it is an enjoyable listen all the way through. I can go on for years talking about how good this album is but the bottom line is that this album is truly an exception and it is a shame that this guy is not getting the attention he deserves while people with half his talent are being titled as the greatest arab singers. I can't wait for his next studio offering. JUST AWESOME. Dr. Ayar Farhan Simply the best, King of traditional Iraqi music with top instrument the Guitar, to Ilham we are the followers, supporters forever, and as guitar musician myself influenced by his since talent for the last 25 years. Album is tribute to his genius talent. We know the hard time you faced in the past form the reactionary critics; never to late, now the sky is limit. The Iraqi community cannot wait to see him in United Kingdom!! Dr.Ayar Farhan. adam First of all,i would like to salute Ilham and all his team for the fabulious work. You guys prove that the guitar is an arabic instrument and you can use it quite well. I love this music. It is something else. I would call it arabwesttraditional mix. keep up the great work. Addai I watched Ilham perform in Baghdad many times back in 60's. We are alumni of the same school, Baghdad College. For years we had to content with listening to Ilham's well worn tapes recorded some 20 earlier. This CD is a very welcome replacement!! Thank you Ilham. May you live and prosper. Submit your Review |
